Ardington House Wedding Photography – Thashi & John
Some weddings stay with you for a long time, and this Ardington House wedding was definitely one of them. From the beautiful ceremony on Temple Island to an unforgettable evening celebration, it was a day full of emotion, laughter, and incredible moments.
This wedding also meant a lot to me personally. I was there capturing the photography while my partner Kirsty was creating the flowers — something we often do together at weddings. But this time we had a very special helper.
Our daughter Edie joined Kirsty for the day and even had the honour of personally delivering the flowers to Thashi. Thashi was amazing with her and made her feel completely part of the day. Edie absolutely loved every moment.
It made this already special wedding feel even more meaningful for us.
A Beautiful Wedding Venue – Ardington House
Once again, Ardington House proved to be an exceptional wedding venue in Oxfordshire. With its stunning grounds, riverside views, and the unique Temple Island ceremony location, it’s easy to see why so many couples choose it for their big day.
The weather was mostly on our side as well. It was a beautiful sunny day, although we had a brief drizzle just before guests headed over for the ceremony.
Because of the rain, everyone gathered in the reception area of the house beforehand. In a way, this worked perfectly as it created a wonderful buzz as guests arrived and families met each other for the first time.
The atmosphere built naturally from the start of the day.
Bridal Preparations in the Drawing Room
Thashi got ready in the large drawing room on the ground floor of Ardington House. It’s a stunning space with beautiful natural light, making it perfect for bridal preparations.
The room was full of energy — hair, makeup, laughter, and the sound of guests arriving outside all adding to the excitement.
Meanwhile, John and his groomsmen were getting ready upstairs. They seemed extremely relaxed about the day — helped slightly by a very nice malt whisky that John insisted I share with him.
It’s a tough job being a wedding photographer sometimes.
The Temple Island Wedding Ceremony
When the time finally arrived, the rain stopped almost perfectly on cue.
Guests made their way across to Temple Island to take their seats while John waited patiently for his bride to arrive.
Thashi was driven over by buggy, and then suddenly she appeared.
Her hair was immaculately styled and she looked absolutely stunning as she made her way towards John. His reaction said everything.
The ceremony itself was beautiful. With the river gently flowing behind them, swans gliding across the water, and stunning floral arrangements created by Flowers by Kirsty, the setting was simply perfect.
It was one of those ceremonies that felt completely calm, intimate, and emotional all at once.
Confetti, Drone Photos and Relaxed Portraits
After the ceremony, everyone headed back to the house for the confetti moment — one of the most joyful parts of any wedding day.
This is usually when I get the drone out as well. It can be a bit of a juggling act trying to capture moments on camera while flying the drone at the same time, but the results are always worth it.
Having two different perspectives of such an exciting moment really adds something special to the final gallery.
Throughout the afternoon we captured a few relaxed couple portraits between drinks and canapés. This approach keeps the photography feeling natural and avoids taking the couple away from their guests for too long.
Wedding Breakfast and Evening Celebrations
Later in the day everyone moved over to the marquee for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations.
The food was absolutely incredible. Fingers & Forks never disappoint and guests were clearly loving every course.
As the evening progressed, the celebrations really got going.
The bar was constantly three people deep, the dance floor was packed, and the energy in the room was amazing. There was plenty of dancing, plenty of laughter, and more than a few celebratory shots being shared around.
It was the perfect way to end an incredible wedding day.
A Truly Special Wedding Day
From the beautiful Temple Island ceremony to the lively evening party, Thashi and John’s Ardington House wedding was unforgettable.
And for us, having our daughter Edie there as part of the day made it even more special.
Thashi and John — thank you so much for letting us be part of such an amazing celebration.
